Subject : Eligibility criteria for admission to GP rating Course and Certificate Course in Maritime Catering - Recognition of Board
As per the DGS Circular 7 of 2005 dated 17.06.2005, the candidates who Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard from a recognized Board with Science, Mathematic as subjects and with minimum 40% marks in English language are eligible for admission to GP Rating Course.
As per Training Circular 4 of 2006 dated 6th Feb, 2008 the candidates passed from any stream with 40% marks in 12th standard and with minimum 40% marks in English language in 10th or 12th are eligible for admission to Certificate Course in Maritime Catering.
It has come to the notice of this Directorate that some maritime training institutes are admitting candidates who have passed 10th or 12th from boards, which are not recognized by the Education Department of the State Government.
All the maritime training institutes conducting GP Rating Course and Certificate Course in Maritime Catering are hereby directed to thoroughly check the eligibility of the candidates admitted for the GP Rating Course and CCMC and ensure that they must have passed 10th or 12th from a recognized board by the Education Department of the State Government. In case of lapses / defaults following penal action would be taken against the institute:
Reduction of intake capacity of the institute to the extent of ineligible candidates; and refund of full fees including boarding and lodging charges;
Suspension of one or two batches of the respective course; and / or
Withdrawal of approval for the course in respect of institute; and / or
Any other penalty as deemed fit.
