Subject : Partial Modification of DGS Order No. 2 of 2007dated 31.10.2007
In partial modification of DGS Order No. 2 of 2007 dated 31.10.2007, the Director General of Shipping & ex-officio Additional Secretary to the Govt. of India is pleased to relax the highest grading requirement stipulated in sub para 1.4.2.2 (b) and 1.4.2.3 (b) of the DGS Order 2 of 2007 from Grade I to Grade I or II.
Further, while submitting the proposal for increase in intake or approval of new courses, the existing Institute will have to show that it has a satisfactory placement record as per the extant guidelines.
All approved maritime training institutes conducting pre-sea courses of engineering and nautical discipline, which have shipboard training as an essential requirement for the CoC Exams, shall submit after the completion of institute based training by a particular batch, the batch-wise on board placement records for the candidates, in the prescribed format given at Annexure-I of DGS Circular 1 of 2008.
The period for submitting the details of actual on board placement of the candidates are given at Annexure II of DGS Circular 1 of 2008, for the various pre-sea courses. The schedule must be strictly complied with.
The arrangements for sea time training would be acceptable if they are made for at least 80% of the students as prescribed in DGS Circular 1 of 2007.
