Admission to pre-sea Training courses for foreign nationals

Training Circular No. 8 of 2005

No:3-TR(19)/2002                                                                                                     Dated: January 27, 2005

Subject : Admission to pre-sea Training courses for foreign nationals

This Directorate has been receiving requests from foreign nationals for joining various pre-sea training courses being conducted by maritime training institutions in India.

As per the M.S. Notice 24 of 2002 , this Directorate has specified the maximum age limits for admission of the students in various pre-sea courses

Some of the foreign nationals who are desirous of undergoing the pre-sea training courses conducted by various approved maritime training institutes in India, exceeds the maximum age limit prescribed in M.S. Notice 24 of 2002, and due to overage the Institutes are not admitting these candidates

The Directorate has examined this issue. In order to attract admission of more foreign students in the Indian maritime training institutes, it has been decided to relax the maximum age limit by 2 years to the foreign national students for pre-sea training courses. However, it may be noted that there is no relaxation in minimum academic qualification as prescribed in the M.S. Notice 24 of 2002.

The training institutes may please note the above, while giving admission to foreign nationals in the pre-sea training courses. However, it may be clarified that the foreign nationals who are undergoing pre-sea training courses in India are not entitled for issuance of Indian CDC.
