Sub: Code of conduct for advertisement

Kindly refer to clause 1.18 of the DGS Order No. 1 of 2003 where the code of conduct for advertisement has been prescribed. While going through the advertisements of many of the institutes as published in several Maritime/National Press/Journals, it is seen that some institutes are not following the guidelines covering aspects as to what should be contained in advertisement and what should not be contained. In the advertisements for pre-sea courses, clause 1.8.8 should be included which states that advertisement should mention "The successful completion of this course does not guarantee on board training which is mandatory for employment "

You are requested to comply the same with immediate effect failing which necessary action will have to be taken as per Part 5 of the DGS Order No. 1 of 2003. You should also confirm the same to Directorate immediately and not later than 15 days of issue of this circular.
