Reg. lectures by the officers of D.G.Shipping & its allied offices in Private Training Institute

Modified vide Training Circular No. 4 of 2002

It has come to the notice of this Directorate that number of private training institutes have been requesting the officers from the Directorate and its allied offices for lectures in their institutes.

This Directorate has not found it proper to permit the officers to deliver the lectures in private institutes with or without honorarium/payment since these officers are the Examiners both for written and oral exams and also inspecting the training institutes for approvals.

In view of above, the Director General of Shipping, after careful consideration of the matter, has decided not to allow the technical officers of this Directorate and its allied offices including the Govt. training institutes for delivering lecture against payment of honorarium/without honorarium. All the training institutes are requested not to request any Government officer from the Directorate and its allied offices for delivering lectures on payment/invitation.

It has also been observed that the MMERT officers are appointed in government training institutes are also taking lectures in private training institutes as visiting faculties. As per the directives issued by this Directorate, a permanent faculty can take lectures only for 18 hours in a week or 8 hours if a visiting faculty. All MMERT officers employed in the government training institutes are being utilized for 18 hours per week. Therefore, they cannot be used anymore anywhere. The private training institutes are not to take these officers on their roll for delivering lectures.

Any violation of the above rules will not be appreciated by this Directorate and will be considered violation of the directives of the Directorate.

The above to be brought in force with effect from 1st February, 2002.
