Withdrawal of sponsorship for 3 months Pre-sea Deck Cadet Training and 6 months /1 year pre-sea training Graduate Mechanical Engineering Cadets

Training Circular No. 3 of 2001

No.5-TR(1)/98                                                                                           Dated: May28, 2001

Sub: Withdrawal of sponsorship for 3 months Pre-sea Deck Cadet Training and 6 months /1 year pre-sea training Graduate Mechanical Engineering Cadets

The Director General of Shipping has decided that the sponsorship for the Pre-sea courses for DG's approved Private Training Institutes, is no longer essential. The private Training Institutes should finalize their own selection procedure for the cadets to undergo the Pre-sea courses which should be transparent and selection to be made absolutely on the basis of merit. All measures to be taken to give the maximum publicity by advertisement in Indian news papers, to the selection procedure and proper records to be maintained which will be scrutinized at the time of inspection by DGS staff/Academic Councils.

All institutes are required to forward quarterly returns to D.G. Shipping in the format attached and should have a feed back system which ensure that the institutes have the list of the candidates employed by Shipping Companies on completion of the pre-sea Courses.

Training Circular No.6 of 2000 is superseded by this circular.

Yours faithfully,

Sd/-
