Subject : Re-evaluation of results

  1. As per Merchant Shipping (Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers), Rules 1998, Rule 49, candidate desiring a review of his results is required to apply within a period of 30 days from the date of declaration of results. Such application shall be forwarded to Chief Examiner of Engineer for further necessary action.
  2. It has been observed that during the month of November 2004 few candidates of MEO Class II and Class IV had applied to Mercantile Marine Department, for re-evaluation of examination answer scripts. The papers after re-evaluation were forwarded to the Directorate for approval. The matter was not referred as required by Rule 49 of META Manual.
  3. If the candidate has applied for re-evaluation of his answer scripts, he should not be allowed to sit in the subsequent examination, till the re-evaluation results are declared. The Directorate will inform the result of review within a week, from the date of receipt of the application forwarded by the Principal Officers/ Examiner of Engineers.
  4. As per instruction to Examiner, Circular No.13 dated 19.04.2000 the authority of final evaluation has been delegated to the Examiner of Engineers in case where a candidate is near pass or fail situation only, and not for re-evaluation cases.

    In view of the above Chief Examiner of Engineers has directed that all re-evaluation cases may be dealt with, as specified in Rule 49.

    This issues with the approval of Chief Examiner of Engineers.
