Merchant Shipping (Load Line) Amendment Rules, 1989

G.S.R. 425(e):- Whereas draft of the Merchant Shipping (Load Line) Amendment Rules, 1988 was published, as required by section 311 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958), in the Gazette of India; Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i) dated the 8th October, 1988 with the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Surface Transport No. G.S.R. 809, dated the 22nd September, 1988, inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby within a period of forty-five days from the date on which the rules as published in the Gazette of India are made available to the public ; 

            And whereas, the said Gazette was made available to the public on the 10th October, 1988. 

            And Whereas no objections or suggestions on the said draft have been received ; 

            Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 311 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958) the Central Government hereby makes the following, rules namely :_ 

1.(1)                  These rules may be called the Merchant Shipping (Load Line) Amendment Rules, 1989.

(2)                They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 

            2.         In the Sixth Schedule to the Merchant Shipping (Load Line) Rules, 1979, in Clause (b) of sub-paragraph (4) of paragraph 5, for the words, figures, abbreviations and letters "longitude 1200 E to the Coast of Australia" the words, figures, abbreviations and letters "longitude 1140 E and thence to the meridian of longitude 1140 E to the Coast of Australia" shall be substituted.
