Sub: Reporting alleged inadequacy of ports reception facilities

Attention is invited to the Circular No. ENG/MISC-29(32)/2003 dated 15.10.2004 and Engineering Circular 53 issued by this Directorate, enclosing therewith MEPC Circular No. 349 along with its annex on the subject: Revised consolidated format for reporting alleged inadequacy of port reception facilities requesting to disseminate the revised format to masters of all ships calling at Indian ports and also to forward the reports received from ships to this Directorate with their comments. However, the Marine Environment Protection Committee in its 53rd session held in July 2005 has further revised consolidated format to include reference to sewage (MARPOL Annex IV), Ozone-depleting substances and exhaust gas-cleaning system residues (MARPOL Annex VI) and issued MEPC Circular 469 dated 27th July 2005 along with the revised format.

With a view to bring to the notice of all concerned, the MEPC Circular 469 along with its annex is attached herewith. Authorities of all ports in India are requested to distribute the revised format to masters of all ships calling at their ports and encourage them to use the format to report any alleged inadequacy of port reception facilities to the nearest office of the Mercantile Marine Department for further necessary action.

This issues with the approval of Chief Surveyor with the Government of India.

Yours faithfully,
